15 Russian peacekeepers have been taken to a police station in the Georgian town of Khobi in the west of the country. Authorities say their vehicle was involved in a road accident with a minibus, causing minor injuries to passengers.

Senior Russian officers as well as UN observers in the region have been summoned to the town. A criminal case has been launched into the crash. A spokesman for Russian peacekeepers in the region says the arrests are a provocation by Georgia. He called for fair and civilized talks to resolve the issue.
