Pavlyuchenko rapidly becoming Liverpool’s jinx

Two goals from Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko helped Tottenham Hotspur to beat Liverpool 4-2 to go throught to the last eight of the English Carling Cup.

Pavlyuchenko opened the scoring on 38 minutes when he was left completely unmarked in the visitors’ box. And the former Spartak Moscow striker killed off Liverpool hopes of a comeback after the break, capitalising on a cross and making the score 4-1.  Tottenham were beating Liverpool for the second time this season. Their previous victory came in the Premier League, with Pavlyuchenko scoring the winning goal in stoppage time.
