Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says foreign powers are trying to damage relations between Iran and Russia. These comments were made during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was unwilling to be specific on which countries he meant. The Islamic Republic News Agency quotes the Iranian President as saying that Moscow and Tehran have strong relations, and that competition between the two countries wouldn't benefit either nation. Meanwhile, Russia is helping to build Iran's first nuclear powerplant in Bushehr.
