One dead in UN helicopter crash in Congo

One man has died after a Russian helicopter crashed in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The MI-8 craft was carrying ten people on a United Nations mission around the city of Goma.

One crew member was killed as the helicopter went down according to the Russian Ministry of Transport. Others onboard suffered injuries. Their nationalities are unknown. “The emergency landing took place due to technical reasons. After the landing one person died of a heart attack”, said Kemal Saiki, representative of the UN mission in Congo.
