A Tbilisi-based TV channel known for its harsh criticism of the Georgian government is back on air. But Imedi TV, which has been silent for 130 days, isn't broadcasting news for at least two weeks.
Imedi was created back in 2002. Its founder, Georgian multimillionaire Badri Patarkatsishvili, died in February 2008 in the UK. In December 2007 the channel's staff suspended the station until the legal status of the company was determined. At the end of March this year, Imedi's new owner, U.S. citizen Joseph Kay, said he would not interfere in the company's editorial or personnel policies.
