Criminal case over nightclub fire to go to court

Russia’s deputy prosecutor general has approved an indictment for the deadly nightclub fire in Perm. The documents in the case will be submitted shortly to court.

The inquiry has confirmed that the fire resulted from the use of fireworks in fire hazardous conditions, as well as other violations of fire safety and construction standards and rules. This caused the [blaze], massive causalities and injuries,” read the statement by the Prosecutor General’s office.

The “Lame Horse” nightclub went up in flames last December when an indoor fireworks show set off an uncontrollable fire, killing 156 people and seriously injuring 65 more.

Eight people are currently facing jail terms.
