A new leak of radioactive uranium has been registered at a factory in southeastern France following a break in an underground pipe. The French nuclear safety authority announced the leak on Friday. The factory is operated by a subsidiary of the Areva comp

The nuclear safety authority says the first tests at the Romans-sur-Isere site ‘have shown no impact on the environment as the quantity of uranium are not significant, about several hundreds grams". Last week 74 kilogrammes of liquid uranium leaked from the Tricastin site run by Areva. Following the incident the French government said on Thursday it was ordering tests at all French nuclear power plants.
