Defence officials say there's no truth in claims that Moscow is planning to sell Iran Russian-made S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems.

The Federal Agency overseeing Military and Technical Co-operation issued the denial on its website.  In a brief online statement, the agency said the issue is not on the agenda and is not being discussed with Tehran. However, it says Russia continues to co-operate with Iran in military and technical fields, in full compliance with international rules.  On Wednesday, Iranian Defence Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said that Russia could start selling the S-300 missile systems to Iran soon. According to him, the contract for the system was signed a few years ago.
