One million rubles ($US 40,000) are being offered by police for information about a serial arsonist who’s targeting cars in Moscow. More than twenty cars have been torched in the past week.

The latest torching took place in the early hours of Tuesday, destroying three cars. Police suspect a man with mental health problems is behind the incidents. Two teenagers were detained in the south of the city on suspicion of the fires, but were later released after another car blaze in the north of the capital on Sunday. Residents in some districts have organised night neighbourhood watches to protect their vehicles.
