People in Moscow have been treated to a spectacular air show, as 127 aircraft rehearsed above Red Square.

Around 20 Russian Air Force units practiced their routines to get ready for the Victory Day parade, taking place in the capital on May 9th.

There were displays from renowned Russian fighter jets the Sukhoi-27, MIG-29 and MIG-31.

War veterans and young people also laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, one of the main war memorials in Moscow.

Later in the day, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will award five Russian cities with the rank of Military Glory.
