A Russian Emergency Ministry team is on its way to the country's Amur region to help in the clean-up after severe flooding. Heavy rainfall meant a reservoir overflowed, submerging nearby towns.

Meanwhile, a state of emergency has been declared in the Zeya, tributary of the Amur River, district. Over 60 homes are underwater after floods washed through the towns of Ovsyanka and Zeya. Four hundred people have been moved from the area and thousands more are expected to follow. Water levels in the reservoir have passed the critical mark – threatening fifteen other communities.
