A South Ossetian teenager has been killed by a grenade left after the war with Georgia. 13-year old Azamat was killed on September 25 when he stumbled upon a grenade left by Georgians in a field and it detonated.
Dozens of mines continue to pose a threat to local people, despite large-scale clearing work conducted by Russian peacekeepers. They have already disposed of about 30,000 items, with each day adding about 500 new pieces of ordnance to the tally.
