Two anti-mine rockets have malfunctioned during a military training and have hit a house in the Moscow Region. No one was injured, although a small fire was reported in the town of Nakhabino around 30 kilometres north-west of the Russian capital.
The head of the Russian Defence Ministry's press service, Vyacheslav Sedov, said the incident is being looked into. “During the launch of de-mining charges as part of training in the Istra District of the Moscow Region two projectiles changed course. One hit the roof of a building, but no one was injured. The Defence Ministry has put together a commission to investigate the incident. The Ministry will compensate any damage,” the spokesman said. The mine clearing system, called the Dragon, is used to clear a pass for troops or tanks. The piece that hit the house was only a propulsion engine without the charge. It couldn't cause any serious damage. The area where the incident took place is considered to be one of the most prestigious and elite in Moscow region. There have been some reports that it could be chosen as a possible location of Russia's next president's residence. An investigation has been launched into the case.
