Militant commander killed in Chechen Republic

In Grozny, the Chechen capital, two militants have been killed and one captured in a special police operation. The Chief of the special task force confirmed that one of the militants was a local field commander, Abdulla Damishev.

Gamishev was wanted on several charges of murder, abduction, and terrorism. Chechen Republic Prosecutor, Valery Kuznetsov, gave the details of the incident: “Police officers were on their usual rounds cheking passports in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny. They came under fire and two law enforcement officers were wounded. Immediately following the attack, Chechen police and federal security servicemen blocked off the house after receiving a tip off. The militants refused to surrender. Two of them were killed and one arrested.”
