Mexico has begun a vote recount following its close-fought presidential election. Initial results gave conservative candidate Felipe Calderon the edge by one per cent.

His rival, left-wing candidate Lopez Obrador, said three million votes had not been accounted for. Obrador called the results manipulated and demanded a recount. Calderon said he would include Obrador in his cabinet, to avoid weeks of political deadlock.
