Presidential front-runner, Dmitry Medvedev, has said he wants to improve the quality of housing for those who serve in the military.

He met Ministry of Defence members to discuss social benefits for servicemen. “One of goals of the National Project is to increase the housing available for millions of people. Last year we achieved progress. Bank mortgages increased from $US 12 billion to around $US 16 billion,” Dmitry Medvedev said.   “It is very important that the quality of ongoing and future house construction is the same as that of housing available on the property market We will continue building and providing quality apartments for the armed forces. But if at all possible, build detached family homes for military,” he added.
