McCain appoints Putin 'President of Germany'

Voters in Iowa had every reason to be confused. They'd just been told that Vladimir Putin was the President of Germany. And while Putin speaks fluent German, and even lived there for a while, we can be fairly certain that the Russian leader is not holdin

But none of this mattered to U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who blithely described Putin as the 'President of Germany'. The 71-year-old made the apparent slip of the tongue while campaigning in the midwestern state of Iowa.
