Millions across Asia have gathered to watch the sky turn into complete darkness.

While many have traveled from across the world to see it, some in India are doing their best to avoid it, even though it is occurring on their own doorstep.

The eclipse is moving east across India, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China before ending in the Pacific.

In the heart of New Delhi, a large group of enthusiasts have gathered to witness the unique natural phenomenon, but the excitement is only limited to the largest of cities in India.

Traditionally, Indian culture considers eclipses to be a bad omen and going out to enjoy the sight is frowned upon. It is believed that during an eclipse the sun is under the influence of two evil planets that also influence anybody who is watching it.
