Russia and Libya strike 1.3 billion euro military deal

Russia and Libya have signed a 1.3 billion euro arms agreement, according to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

"A total of 1.3 billion euros worth of contracts were signed yesterday. And these are not only firearms,” the Russian PM said during a meeting with Vladimir Gorodetsky, the general director of the Izhevsk machine building factory.

Gorodetsky said that the contract signed is very important for the factory and will keep one of its enterprises busy for at least two years, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

On Friday, Prime Minister Putin held talks with Libyan Defense Minister Lieutenant-General Abu-Bakr Yunis Jabr.

Earlier, the Libyan official met Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov to discuss bilateral cooperation in the sphere of military and military–technical cooperation.
