Relatives who lost loved ones in a plane crash in Germany in 2002 have gathered at the crash site to mark the fifth anniversary of the tragedy.

In July 2002 an airliner and a cargo plane collided over lake Boden, killing 71 people, including 49 Russian children on their way to a holiday in Spain. A special ceremony took place near the monument dedicated to the victims of the crash. The memorial is in the shape of a torn pearl necklace, with the pearls scattered in the direction of the debris of the two crashed planes.Eight employees of Swiss air traffic control have appeared in court on negligence charges and are awaiting a verdict in September. The air traffic control service has offered to pay compensation to the relatives of the victims.
