In Kyrgyzstan, the acting Agriculture Minister, Azim Isabekov, has been nominated to take over as prime minister. Deputies are expected to vote on the new candidate early next week.

It is President Kurmanbek Bakiev's third attempt to appoint a premier. His earlier nominations of the former prime minister, Felix Kulov, were both blocked by parliament. If President Bakiev's choice is knocked back again, parliament will be dissolved and new elections called. 46-year-old Isabekov was previously deputy head of the Chui Region Administration.
