Those killed in the Beslan school siege are remembered on Thursday. Political analyst Aleksandr Pikaev believes that now the Kremlin clearly has more control over the regions.

“We see relative stabilization in the North Caucasus as a result of quite tough measures taken particularly in Chechnya,” noted Aleksandr Pikaev from the Institute for World Economy and International Relations.

“And although it is, of course, far from complete stability, the situation is now much better as compared to that of five years ago”.
