The bodies of five missing mountain climbers have been recovered by rescuers in Russia's Southern Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.

An avalanche of about 40,000 cubic meters fell on a group of nine beginner-level climbers on one of the easiest routes on Friday. The tourists from Moscow and St. Petersburg were warned about the potential danger, but the head of the group decided to take the risk regardless.

Four of the climbers managed to find their way to safety.
