Japanese pursue geek dream – kissing via internet

Japanese scientists are developing a device which can simulate the tactile sensation of kissing and communicate your response to a partner over distance.

So far the odd machine, created by Kajimoto Laboratory at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo, consists of a straw attached to a hand-held box, which you are supposed to stick into your month and twirl around with tongue. The movement is then transmitted via the internet to another such box, which simulates the kiss to you partner, reports diginfo.tv.Now developers of the device, which is apparently meant to be a cybersex aid, are working to include “the sense of taste, the manner of breathing, and the moistness of the tongue” into their invention. The scientists do not say if they intend to do anything to mimic lips with their toy. But they say they certainly will make their tongued box able to replay kissing information, probably to market it in a “kiss from your favorite celebrity” fashion.
