Clashes between police and protesters have left at least eight people dead in the Armenian capital, Yerevan. The country’s Foreign Minister, Vardan Oskanyan, discussed the violence with RT.
“At this moment the situation on the surface is very calm, but underneath there is still a lot of tension. We cannot simply pretend that everything has disappeared, but this situation and the state of emergency was necessary,” Vardan Oskanyan said. “It was a sequence of unexpected developments that led eventually to an aggressive gathering in front of the French Embassy, which led to clashes between the police and the public, leading to deaths and a lot of injures on both sides,” he explained.
