RT has interviewed Hebrew University professor and author of 20 books Shmuel Eisenstadt, who claims that there is currently no clash of civilizations between civilized and uncivilized peoples.
The professor says that the contradictions between openness and fundamentalism are not geographic in nature as such things as religious and political fundamentalism happen in all countries, even in the United States. However, the researcher points out that the historical perspective, saying that religious fundamentalism is a modern issue and not a legacy of the past.
Also, the professor noted that, while the United States is currently the world hegemony, it often fails to establish control over particular regions even in the Western hemisphere. And the United States’ interest in global dominance has eventually led to the rise of fundamentalism, which had often been overlooked by the US politicians and analysts.
