Russia's new ambassador to NATO says protecting the country's borders is his top priority. Nationalist hawk Dmitry Rogozin has arrived in Brussels with the task of shaping future relations between Moscow and the alliance.
Rogozin says Moscow wants to unblock the Russia-NATO co-operation programme. The U.S. obstructed the approval of the programme, demanding that Russia return to the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty. Russia withdrew from the treaty, arguing it was the only country that had implemented it. Rogozin thinks the treaty will be ratified by the end of the year by NATO members.
