Hamas demands top Palestinian leaders in exchange for Israeli soldier

The supreme leader of the Palestinian movement Hamas Khaled Mashaal is demanding that Israel releases top Palestinian leaders in return for a captured soldier.

In an interview published by the Palestinian news paper Al Ayam on Monday, Khaled Mashaal threatens violence if an international aid embargo isn’t lifted. He also accuses Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of delaying the prisoner exchange deal.Olmert has said the list of prisoners Hamas wants freed is unacceptable.
