Today more than 800,000 Russian teenagers are celebrating the end of their studies in a traditional ceremony called the “Last Bell” that has rung out across the country.
This morning teachers, pupils and their parents gathered together to remember the good old days.
Youngsters are dressed in a traditional way: the gents are in suits wearing sashes and ladies are dressed in knee-high black dresses and white aprons and fluffy ribbons in their hair – a sort of comical throwback to the fashions of the early 20th century.
It is warm in Moscow so many of the students will traditionally finish the ceremony by hopping into the numerous fountains of the capital.
Officially, however, they will have to wait a little bit longer to truly get the party started, as their final exams for their diplomas take place in June.
