Russia's Geyser Valley, in the country's far-eastern Kamchatka Peninsula, has reopened for tourists.

The environmental protection watchdog closed the region after a powerful mudslide last month, which destroyed geysers, tourist paths, and helicopter landing sites. The Geyser Valley was discovered in 1941 and is considered to be unique. It opened for tourists in 1991, but environmentalists say this year the number of visitors will lower following the disaster.
