Geyser Valley: natural phenomenon completely lost?

Experts are travelling to Geyser Valley in Russia's Kamchatka peninsula after severe mudslides hit the area on Sunday. The Federal Agency for Tourism says that the natural phenomenon has been lost completely.

Specialists will survey the damage done to the natural hot springs, which are on UNESCO's World's Heritage List.Oleg Mitvol, Deputy Head of Russia's environmental watchdog agency, says that the consequences of such a catastrophe are irreversible.But some experts from the Russian Academy of Sciences believe it will be possible to restore the nature reserve and that the mudslide has only affected three geysers out of 15.No one was injured in the accident which may have been caused by a melting glacier.Geyser Valley in Russia's Kamchatka peninsula is a major tourist attraction in Russia's Far East.
