In the south Atlantic tens of thousands of Gentoo penguins are arriving at their traditional nesting grounds on the Falkland Islands. Despite a drop in their numbers in recent years, the penguins are now making a strong recovery.

Scientists say they are no longer on the endangered species list. The environmental site, where the birds settle in large colonies near the seashore, attracts thousands of tourists each year to the Falklands where the islanders are active in protecting local wildlife.
