Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko has launched a second attempt to have Orange revolution first lady Yulia Timoshenko elected as Prime Minister. On Tuesday, she fell one vote short of the parliamentary majority needed to secure the post.

Yulia Timoshenko's allies blame their main opponents – the Party of Regions, led by the current Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich, saying they interfered with the electronic voting. A special group of the Ukrainian Security Service did not find evidence indicating the system has been tampered with. None-the-less the coalition intends to abandon electronic voting for the poll on Wednesday – in the hope of avoiding further setbacks.
