Former U.S. Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, has told a House Committee in Washington that sending more troops to Iraq would be a disaster. She believed the war in Iraq is damaging the image of the U.S. in the world.
“It is very clear that there are no good options here, and the question is how to minimise the damage and how to leave in a way that does not undercut America's position more than it has already been undercut that allows the evolution of a stable Iraq. There are no good solutions in increasing the troop numbers. I do not believe it adds to the situation in a positive way at all,” Ms Albright stated.Meanwhile, at least 17 people were killed in a new explosion in Baghdad. 33 other people were injured when a suicide car bomber detonated explosives in a Shiite market.
