Flood in Gaza adds fuel to Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Parts of the Middle East have been swamped by unusual flash floods after unseasonal torrential rain swept from Egypt to Jordan.

In addition, Israel is being accused of deliberately flooding Palestinians out of their homes by opening a dam to release built-up water without warning.

Hamas is capitalizing on the natural disaster, believes Dr Mordachai Kedar from Israel’s Bar-Ilan University.

“These are allegations they make each time they have natural disasters – they blame us instead of looking inward, of finding problems within themselves,” he told RT.

Israel has no intention of harming the people of Gaza, Dr Mordachai Kedar says, quite the opposite.

“Every day we give them dozens of trucks loaded with food and drinking water. We also give them electricity. Almost everything they have comes from us.”
