An explosion, which occurred at approximately 06:00 Moscow time, has damaged a passenger train on the Tyumen-Baku route of Russia’s Republic of Dagestan on Monday.

According to preliminary data, no one was wounded in the incident.

The locomotive of the train, which was en route from West Siberia's Tyumen to Azerbaijan's capital Baku, was damaged, but the train itself did not derail and later continued on to its destination.

Specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other servicemen were sent to the site. An investigation has been launched.

The event comes only days after the Nevsky Express – travelling from Moscow to St. Petersburg – crashed, where 26 people were killed and dozens more wounded.
