EU Parliament marks Victims of Terrorism Day

A one minute silence has been held in the European Parliament to mark European Day for the Victims of Terrorism, which was established to pay tribute to those who have suffered from terrorist attacks.

The EU Parliament has scheduled a number of events in Strasbourg to mark the occasion.Over 500 students from Britain, Spain and Germany, many of them victims, gathered in the city, and the Parliament's President, Hans-Gert Poettering, made a speech before them.They attend sessions on how to best fight terrorism and live in multi-cultural society.The day, officially commemorated on March 11th, was initiated in 2005, one year after the Madrid train blasts.
