Talks between Iran and the EU on the prospect of restarting negotiations on the Islamic Republic’s controversial nuclear programme will be held on Thursday, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Husseini.
The announcement was made just hours after stating that Sunday’s talks had been postponed. It follows the International Atomic Energy Agency’s latest report on Wednesday which faulted Tehran for expanding its nuclear work. Earlier, Iran said it had uncovered several spy networks organised by the U.S. and its Western allies. The allegations come a day before the Iran and U.S. ambassadors meet in Baghdad to discuss the crisis in Iraq. In a statement broadcast on state-run television, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry claimed it detected the networks in western, south-western and central parts of the country made up of “infiltrating elements from the Iraq occupiers”. The White House says it does not confirm or deny allegations about intelligence matters.
