The eternal flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider – a WWII memorial – was relocated from Moscow’s Alexander Garden on Sunday. It is expected to return once regeneration of the Garden is complete.

The relocation of the flame had earlier been authorized by President Dmitry Medvedev’s decree. The ceremony for its relocation was held in accordance with all military rules and was attended by veterans of the Second World War and representatives of the Ministry of Defense.

The flame is now on display at the World War II Victory Park of Polkolnnaya Hill. It is expected to return to the Alexander Garden on February 23.
