The Estonian Consulate in Saint Petersburg has been splashed with black paint. Police are investigating and deciding whether to open a criminal case for vandalism.

Officials say that around midnight two unidentified men threw the paint against the walls of the building and scattered leaflets denouncing certain decisions by the Estonian Government. The incident follows a resolution passed by Russia’s State Duma on a new Estonian law, which paves the way for dismantling memorials to Soviet soldiers.
