The Endeavour space shuttle has safely returned to Earth after almost two weeks in space. Initially planned to end on Wednesday, the mission was cut short due to Hurricane Dean.

It was feared that crosswinds at the landing spot could jeopardise a safe touchdown. The shuttle and its seven astronauts were delivering new components to the International Space Station.
