Dynamo Moscow have beaten Rijeka Kvig in the women's volleyball champions league. The croats were not able to cope with the free-scoring Russian's who head into the play-offs unbeaten.

The Moscovites were firm favourites coming into the tie.

Dynamo had already sealed their place in the play-offs, winning all five games and dropping just a set in the process.

However, Rijeka Kvig started brightly. At one point they managed to open up a five-point lead.

But with stars of the caliber of Ekaterina Gamova, it wasn't long before Dynamo started to get back into the match, and eventually sealed the first set by a score of 25-20.

The second set proved to be even more one-sided for the home team.

Dynamo was in total control, as they dropped just 11 points and moved into a commanding two sets to love lead.

Rijeka did threaten briefly in the third set, as they finally managed to get themselves back in the game.

But Dynamo's extra class showed, as they wrapped up an easy three-set victory, in just over an hour to move convincingly through to the champions league playoffs.

“It was a very straightforward victory for us, in the first set we didn't play that well, but we were able to turn things around in our favour. Even though we had already qualified for the playoffs, it was important to finish off the group stage with a victory,” said Dynamo player Ekaterina Gamova.

Dynamo’s commanding performance confirms their status as one of the hot tops to lift this year's champions league title.
