Czechs oppose hosting U.S. radar

More than 70,000 people of the Czech Republic have signed a petition demanding the government shouldn't accept a U.S. radar system in the country. The document will be handed over to the lower house of the Czech Parliament.

According to the Vice Speaker of the lower house of the Czech Parliament, elements of the U.S. system could be used for attack. The petition campaign is being held by the activists of the “No to Radar” movement and left-wing youth organizations.According to the latest public opinion polls, 70% of Czechs are against the deployment, while over 50% say a national referendum on this subject should be held.
