Clocks across Russia have gone back one hour ending daylight saving time for this year. Residents in the country's Far East were the first to do it, while the most westerly region, Kaliningrad on the Baltic Sea, was the last to join in.
In Moscow, Russia's landmark clock in the Kremlin went back an hour at 3am local time. Daylight saving time was first proposed in 1907 by the English builder William Willett to save energy. Since then, the practice has been adapted in many countries around the world.
