Chinese TV starts speaking Russian

Chinese Central Television has started 24-hour Russian-language broadcasting targeting audience in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other member-countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The satelite channel covers the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Europe, and could potentially reach up to 300 million people.

The launch of the channel marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Moscow and Beijing and is part of the year of Russian language in China.

For Central Television of China, the Russian-speaking channel became the sixth foreign language channel to be operated. The company broadcasts programs in Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, English, French and Spanish.

The channel broadcasts several informational programs like Newsreels, In China, In Asia, Business 30 and Interview, as well as educational ones: Traveling About China, Learning Chinese, Chinese Cuisine and others.
