'Chessboard killer' pleads guilty to more murders

One of Moscow's most notorious murderers – known as the 'Chessboard' killer or the Bitsevsky maniac – has admitted to 14 more murders at his trial in the capital.

Aleksandr Pichushkin is charged with 49 murders in total and 3 attempted murders but maintains he killed 60, although prosecutors have no details on these additional cases.   After two days of trial he has formally pleaded guilty to 18 murders. His victims were mostly men, many of them homeless.
