More than 50 people have been killed in two separate car bomb attacks in Sunni Arab areas of Iraq.

At least 40 died in the attack in Baquba, 65km northeast of Baghdad. A further 70 were injured when a vehicle full of explosives was detonated. The blast took place just after noon outside a restaurant and offices of the provincial government. Baquba is the capital of Diyala province, one of Iraq’s most volatile regions. In another attack in the Anbar province, thirteen people were killed and fourteen injured when a suicide bomber detonated explosives west of Baghdad.
