Thousands of people have taken part in anti-war demonstrations in two of Britain's largest cities London and Glasgow. The protestors were demanding the immediate return of all British troops from Iraq.
The rally came after the Prime Minister announced plans to cut back the contingent, but demonstrators called for a major change of policy.Tony Blair's plans for a new multi-billion dollar nuclear missile defence system as well as possible military action against Iran were also criticised.Meanwhile the British media are reporting that the terrorism threat in the country is now greater than any time since the September 11 attacks in the U.S.Quoting a leaked Government document the Telegraph newspaper says more than 2,000 British-based Islamic terrorists are believed to be plotting attacks.The Home Office declined to comment on the report, but said that security arrangements are under constant review.
