Breed-and-eat method to save iguana

The iguana is under threat in Mexico as too many of the reptiles are being eaten. In order to protect the species, a breeding centre has been opened housing more than a thousand reptiles.

It's also trying to raise awareness of their plight among the general public. The iguanas are a popular dish for indigenous people and are sold in markets. The centre suggests rather than banning the sale of iguana meat, people wanting to eat them should breed them at home.
