Tens of thousands of Bosnian Serbs have been demonstrating on the streets of Banja Luka. They have protested against what they see as meddling by the joint EU-UN representative for the region.

The protesters were appealing to Russia’s President to help Serbs in Bosnia. In a petition to President Putin, protestors were calling for the protection of Serb rights in the country. Organisers have said they hope to get 30,000 signatures on the petition. The Bosnian Serb minority are unhappy with the post-war agreements made by the U.S. and the European Union after the break-up of Yugoslavia. They are accusing the west of encouraging Muslim domination in the country at the expense of the rights of ethnic Serbs.
